Colts cruise by Liberty in Bord consolation play
GRAFTON — Philip Barbour evened its record to 1-1 on the young season with a 77-50 rout of Big 10 Conference foe Liberty Friday evening in the consolation bracket of the Sam Bord tournament at Scotty Hamilton Gymnasium.
The Colts posted a 16-12 lead after one quarter of action, before flexing a 29-10 effort in the second canto for a 45-22 cushion at the break.
PB led 59-32 after three periods of play before reserves finished out the game with an 18-all draw in the fourth frame.
Logan Ball paced the Colts with a game-high 14 points to go along with four assists. Josh Watson nearly scored a double-double while recording 10 points and nine boards.
Gage Bibey netted nine points, three rebounds and three takeaways on the evening, while Jed Hawkins and Cody Cooper scored seven points apiece.
Trevor Schoonover and Trenton Whited both chipped in six points, with Schoonover collecting six boards and Whited passing out three assists.
Liberty had three players reach double figure scoring as Jordan Jones inked a team-high 13 points, while Bryce Benedum and Hayden Dodd had 10 points each.
Philip Barbour will return to action on the road at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at Robert C. Byrd in its Big 10 opener.
