Colts fall to Trinity
GRAFTON — Trinity Christian School senior Seth Goins torched the net at Scotty Hamilton Gymnasium Thursday night by hitting seven treys en route to a game-high 30 points as the Warriors defeated Philip Barbour 82-74 in the semifinal round of the annual Sam Bord tournament.
Trinity will now face host Grafton in the title game this evening. The Bearcats defeated Liberty in the other boys game on Thursday, pitting the Mountaineers against fellow Big 10 Conference rival Philip Barbour in the consolation contest today at 6 p.m.
The Colts trailed 19-15 after one quarter of play, before getting things tied up at 35-all by halftime. Trinity notched a 25-18 third stanza to be up 60-53 as the fourth period got underway. PB only lost the fourth, 22-21, but the damage had already been done.
Maverick Williams paced the Colts with 19 points, while nailing 5 of 9 from behind the arc. Logan Ball was 5 of 6 from two- points range and nabbed four rebounds.
Will Knight and Jesiah Matlick put in seven points each, and Knight led the Colts on the boards with six rebounds.
