Lady Bulldogs tripped by Pendleton County

TV’s Abby Lanham fires in 28 points in a 62-51 road loss

FRANKLIN — Brandy Bowers and Arianna Young each scored 16 points to lift Pendleton County past Tygarts Valley, 62-51, on Wednesday night.

Katie Scott also reached double figures for the Lady Wildcats with 12 points.

Abby Lanham fired in 28 points and grabbed four steals for the Lady Bulldogs (0-2), who trailed 31-22 at the intermission and 45-32 after three quarters.

Claire Smith added 11 points, six rebounds and five assists, Felicity Walden five rebounds and Landrie Lanham five assists.

“Our lack of rebounding killed us tonight,” Tygarts Valley coach Nancy Lewis said. “We need to do a better job both on the offensive and defensive end on the boards to win.

“We are scoring enough points on offense but giving up way too many to the other team.”

Tygarts Valley will return home at 7:30 p.m. Friday to face Class A, No. 9 Pocahontas County.

Pendleton County is now 2-1 and will compete in the Petersburg Tip Off Tournament Friday and Saturday.
