ELKINS — Elkins’ Sam Price has one more game remaining in her high school volleyball career.

The senior has been selected to play in the 2019 North-South All-Star volleyball game to be held Sunday at Woodrow Wilson High School in Beckley.

Six teams consisting of senior players from around the state will take part in the contest.

The squads include Class AAA North, AAA South, AA North, AA South, A North and A South.

Each team will play five matches, and Price will be a member of the AA North squad, which will be coached by Bridgeport’s Ali and Grant Burton.

“I am very excited to get this opportunity to play on the AA North team during the North-South All-Star game this year,” Price said. “I definitely wouldn’t have gotten this far if it wasn’t for all of my coaches, from club and high school seasons all the way back to middle school.”

Price started playing volleyball at the middle-school level when Elkins started its program.

“I just fell in love with the game,” she said. “They (the coaches) have all helped me develop into the player I am today by pushing me to do my best.

“Once the high school season ends, I play travel volleyball, which means I’m practically playing year-round. It has really helped me to further improve my skills.”

Price earned both all-state and all-Big 10 Conference honors this season for the Lady Tigers of head coach Penny Crawford.

“With my kill rate this year (.319) being nearly half the amount of my whole high school career, you can definitely see my improvement,” Price said. “I’ve also formed some great friendships with my high school and travel teammates. I am so appreciative of the love and support I’ve received from my family, friends, teachers, coaches and teammates.”
