Victoria Sturm hits for 19 points to lift Lady Cougars, 76-40

ELKINS — Victoria Sturm led three teammates in double figures with 19 points as Class AA, No. 3 Lincoln rolled to a 76-40 win over Elkins Wednesday night in Big 10 Conference action at Richard P. Simmons Memorial Gymnasium.

Brynne Williams also knocked down four 3-pointers and finished with 16 points for the Lady Cougars (2-1, 1-0 Big 10), who led 42-15 at the half and 63-27 after three quarters of play.

Madi Martin and Allison Rockwell chipped in 10 points each for Lincoln.

Hannah Ferris just missed double digits with eight points while dishing out eight assists.

Madison Holland led the way for the Lady Tigers (1-3, 1-3) with nine points. Anna Belan, Alyssa Severino and Isabella Shumate followed with six points each.

Severino also pulled down five rebounds, while teammate Autumn Lane collected three steals.

“I thought our kids played hard and played with effort,” Elkins coach Matt Davis said.

“Lincoln has a very good team, and they came out and shot the ball extremely well tonight.”

The Lady Cougars drilled seven 3-pointers on the night.

Elkins will entertain Liberty for its next contest next Thursday. The Lady Cougars will travel to Keyser on Dec. 21 for their next matchup.
