PB girls fall in Sam Bord championship

Denison and Hill named to all-tourney team

GRAFTON — Philip Barbour came up short 67-50 against Grafton in the title game of the annual Sam Bord Memorial tournament at Scotty Hamilton Gymnasium Friday evening.

The Lady Colts had two players on the all-tournament field in freshman Emily Denison and sophomore Alyssa Hill.

Both scored 15 points in the title contest.

Philip Barbour trailed 14-13 after one quarter and the host Lady Bearcats continued on to make it a 30-19 advantage by the intermission break.

The Lady Colts put up a two-point loss in the third, 19-17, and surrendered an 18-14 fourth frame against Big 10 Conference boarder rival Grafton as the game wore on to the finish.

The Lady Bearcats were paced by Bria Jacobs with a game-high 22 points. Merideth Maier and Tori Jackson both put 10 points in the hoop for GHS.

Philip Barbour (2-2) will host Robert C. Byrd at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday to begin Big 10 Conference play.
