ELKINS — Kierra Bartholow and Avery Pack scored 14 points each to help lead East Fairmont to a 58-24 win over Elkins Thursday night in Big 10 Conference action at Richard P. Simmons Memorial Gymnasium.

The Lady Tigers (5-10, 3-6 Big 10) looked up to the challenge from the visitors early on and trailed by just five (9-4) entering the second quarter.

But the Lady Bees (7-8, 2-3) came to life to start the second, opening the quarter on a 14-4 run that was capped off by two free throws from Tatum Oates that pushed the deficit to 23-8 at the 5:03 mark.

East Fairmont outscored Elkins, 11-4, down the stretch to take a comfortable 34-12 lead into the half.

Pack and Somer Stover, who finished with 10 points, scored six points apiece to lead the charge in the second.

Lady Tiger senior Alyssa Severino looks for an opening to the basket during Thursday night’s game against East Fairmont.

“Their (East Fairmont) pressure defense really hurt us in the second quarter,” Elkins coach Matt Davis said. “We quit doing the things that helped us against it in the first (quarter).

“We quit reversing the ball and we started dribbling the ball straight up the sideline, which played right into East Fairmont’s hands. The turnovers led to a lot of easy baskets for them.”

The Lady Bees used a 10-8 scoring edge in the third quarter to extend their lead to 44-20 entering the fourth.

East Fairmont locked down the win with a 7-0 run to start the final quarter as a runner from Stover made it 51-20 with 5 minutes remaining in regulation.

Anna Belan and Madison Holland led the Lady Tigers with six points each.

Alyssa Severino and Lyllian Bradberry followed with four apiece. Bradberry also pulled down seven rebounds in the contest, while Holland snared five.

Elkins will return to action on Tuesday when it travels to Lewis County for another conference contest. The Lady Bees will entertain Bridgeport the same evening.
