Irish topple TVHS

CLARKSBURG — Class A, No. 9 Notre Dame used a strong second quarter to pull away for a 64-46 Mason Dixon Conference win over Tygarts Valley on Wednesday night.

The Bulldogs trailed by just six, at 15-9, after the opening quarter.

However, the Irish held a 20-5 scoring edge in the second to construct a 35-14 halftime lead.

The Notre Dame advantage swelled to 53-28 after three quarters.

“(Notre Dame) went up-tempo in the second quarter and we didn’t handle it well on either end of the floor,” Tygarts Valley coach Tom Wamsley said. “They were just faster than us and it showed tonight.”

A total of twelve players landed in the scoring column for the Irish, led by Kobe Martino and Jaidyn West with 12 points each.

Garrett Gibson was the lone player in double figures for the Bulldogs (6-4) with 10 points.
