Lady Colts drop contest at Lincoln

B-U girls fall short on the road at Senior

SHINNSTON – Class AA, No. 6 Lincoln placed four players in double figures in coasting to an 89-50 win over Philip Barbour Thursday night in Big 10 Conference play.

Brynne Williams fired in 28 points for the Lady Cougars, followed by Victoria Sturm and Madi Martin with 17 each and Allison Rockwell with 13.

Sophomore Alyssa Hill paced the Lady Colts with a double-double, scoring 14 points and grabbing 12 rebounds in a losing effort.

Philip Barbour, which dropped to 6-6 overall and 2-3 in Big 10 play, will be idle until visiting Bridgeport at 7:30 p.m. next Thursday.

The Lady Colts will remain on the road next Friday at Petersburg.

Lincoln improved to 7-2 and 4-1 Big 10 and will face Winfield at 2 p.m. Monday at East Fairmont.

Fairmont Senior 50

B-U 41

FAIRMONT — Buckhannon-Upshur fell to Class AA, No. 5 Fairmont Senior, 50-41, Thursday night in a Big 10 Conference matchup.

Brooklyn Maxwell had 18 points and Shelby McDaniels 11 for the Lady Bucs, who are now 6-5 overall and 5-3 in Big 10 action.

Senior Kassidy Wilfong contributed seven points.

B-U was plagued by 26 turnovers on the night.

Marley Washenitz had 19 points and Emily Starn nine for the Lady Polar Bears (9-2, 5-1 Big 10).

Fairmont Senior led 19-13 at the intermission and increased its lead to 12 points in the final frame.

B-U will be back in action at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at East Fairmont for another Big 10 contest. The Lady Bucs will return home next Thursday against Robert C. Byrd.

Fairmont Senior is slated to visit Preston at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday for a league tilt.
