Lady Colts garner win over Liberty


CLARKSBURG — Philip Barbour improved to 6-4 overall and 2-1 in Big 10 Conference league play via a 61-35 road win over Liberty Thursday night.

The Lady Colts doubled up the hosts, 22-11, in the first stanza and carried a 33-14 cushion into the intermission break.

PB poured in 20 more points during the third canto for a 53-21 lead to start the fourth quarter.

Freshmen Mattilea Marsh with 11 points and Averi Carpenter with 10 points paced the Lady Colts in the scoring column.

Senior Destiney Blake inked nine points and four takeaways.

Alyssa Hill nabbed 10 rebounds and eight points. Emily Denison with eight points and four blocks and Marissa Schiefelbein with eight points also contributed to the win.

Kiana Bolyard added four assists and three points for the Lady Colts.

Philip Barbour is scheduled to resume Big 10 action on Tuesday when entertaining Class AA, No. 1 North Marion.

Tip time is slated for 7:30 p.m. inside the Colts’ Corral.
