Lady Tigers drop verdict at Grafton

Harman girls take setback to Clay-Battelle in WVHIT play

GRAFTON – A cold-shooting night and first-half scoring drought were too much for Elkins to overcome in dropping a 41-29 Big 10 Conference verdict to Grafton on Tuesday night.

The Lady Tigers (5-9, 3-5 Big 10) shot just 32% from the floor on the night and managed just five points over the first two quarters in trailing 19-5 at the intermission.

Elkins outscored the Lady Bearcats by a 13-11 count in the third and held an 11-10 advantage in the final frame.

Madison Holland led the Lady Tigers with nine points and five rebounds, while Alyssa Severino chipped in seven points and collected three steals.

Bailey Toothman led Grafton (7-3, 2-3) with 10 points.

Elkins will return home at 7:30 p.m. Thursday to face East Fairmont in a Big 10 matchup.

HARMAN — Harman took a 48-26 setback to Clay-Battelle Tuesday in WVHIT first-round play.

Liv Ammons had 13 points to lead the Lady Cee Bees, who built a 28-12 advantage entering halftime and had nine different players record points.

Natalie Teter led the Lady Panthers with nine points.

Harman (3-9) will continue WVHIT action at 2 p.m. Saturday at Paden City.
