No. 6 North Marion halts Philip Barbour’s win streak
RACHEL — Philip Barbour’s four-game winning streak came to a halt Wednesday night after a 73-57 setback against double-A, No. 6 North Marion in Big 10 Conference play.
The host Huskies put up 21 points in both the first and second quarters to have a 42-21 cushion at the intermission break.
The Colts scored 10 and 11 points, respectively, over the first pair of cantos in the contest.
North Marion poured in a 22-10 effort in the third stanza to be up 64-31 by the time the fourth frame ensued.
The Colts won the fourth, 26-9, though the winners had already delivered the damage done for the win.
Trevor Schoonover paced the PB scoring with nine points, while Trent Whited netted eight points and six rebounds.
Jesiah Matlick recorded six points and four boards.
Philip Barbour junior forward Josh Watson did not suit up due to an ankle injury.
Next up for Philip Barbour (6-3 overall, 3-2 league play) is a home game at 7:30 p.m. Friday against Big 10 rival Lincoln.
North Marion (9-0, 7-0 Big 10) will remain home at 6 p.m. Saturday to face Weir.
