Tucker County girls claim win at East Hardy
BAKER — Single-A, No. 8 Tucker County established an early lead and never looked back on Wednesday night while notching a 75-20 win over Potomac Valley Conference opponent East Hardy.
Following a 29-5 scoring edge in the opening stanza, the Lady Mountain Lions dealt a 21-2 second quarter to have a 50-7 cushion at the intermission break.
A 16-4 win by TCHS in the third and a 9-all stalemate in the fourth quarter ran the second-half clock to the finish.
Tucker County sophomore guard London Hood paced the black and gold with a career-high 27 points to pair up with five steals.
Terra Kuhn tallied 14 points and four assists, while Gracie Rapp rounded out three in double figure scoring for Tucker with 11 points and five boards.
Kadie Colebank inked eight points, seven rebounds and five blocked shots for the winners.
Jaden Fleshman and Tera Jones paced the Lady Cougars with six points each in the scoring column.
East Hardy (3-9) is slated to travel to Meadow Bridge at 7:30 p.m. today.
Tucker County improved to 8-4 and will resume action on Friday when hosting Bishop Walsh (Md.) at 5:45 p.m.
The TCHS boys team is slated to take on Bishop Walsh in the nightcap on the mountain.
On Saturday, the Lady Mountain Lions will be on the road at Class AA, No. 6 Lincoln for a tall test in Shinnston.
Currently, Lincoln is 8-3 overall and 6-0 in Big 10 Conference league play.
