Tucker County girls pick up win over Lady Irish
CHARLESTON — Class A, No. 6 Tucker County chalked up a 52-40 win over Charleston Catholic on Saturday.
The Lady Mountain Lions, who were coming off a tough 58-50 double-overtime loss at home to Petersburg on Thursday night, improved to 6-3 on the season.
After trailing 21-19 at the intermission break, Tucker County used a 15-3 run in the third quarter to nab a 34-24 advantage heading into the final quarter of action.
The host Lady Irish (5-5) edged the Lady Mountain Lions in the first canto, 11-9, before both squads scored 10 points in the second period.
Tucker County took the fourth frame, 18-16.
Senior Terra Kuhn paced the black and gold with a double-double with 22 points and 15 caroms.
London Hood bucketed 14 in the scoring column and pulled down five rebounds in the win.
Nevaeh Nichols with seven points and Kadie Colebank with 13 rebounds, seven blocks and four points rounded out the production for the Lady Mountain Lions.
Tucker County is slated to be at regional opponent South Harrison (4-7) on Wednesday.
The Lady Mountain Lions defeated the Lady Hawks, 61-35, in an earlier meeting this season at TCHS.
