Bulldogs race by Warriors to get win on senior night

MILL CREEK — Tygarts Valley celebrated senior night and continued to gain momentum for postseason play with an 80-40 victory over Pocahontas County Wednesday night at Weber-Wamsley Court.

“It was a great win to send out our seniors,” Bulldogs coach Tom Wamsley said. “They all contributed for us tonight.”

Senior Logan George tossed in a game-high 24 points to lead Tygarts Valley, which led 15-10 after one quarter before taking a 39-22 lead into halftime.

The deficit for the Warriors grew to 60-24 entering the final canto as the Bulldogs held a 21-2 scoring advantage in the third quarter.

Cole Arbogast added 13 points and Aidan Row 12 for the Bulldogs.

Kolton Alderman had 19 points to lead Pocahontas County in the setback.

Tygarts Valley will host Gilmer County at 7 p.m. Saturday in Class A, Region II, Section 1 action.

The winner will travel to top-seed Notre Dame at 7 p.m. Tuesday in semifinal action.
