D&E’s Timm and Irvine honored for MEC track efforts
BRIDGEPORT — Davis & Elkins student-athletes Svea Timm and Dalton Irvine are the Mountain East Conference (MEC) Indoor Track Athletes of the Week.
The duo helped lead the charge for D&E last weekend at the Virginia Military Institute (VMI) Winter Relays as the indoor season continued.
Timm, a freshman from Jork, Germany, set a school-record time in the 3,000-meter race in 10:25.64. She was the top DII finisher in the race, posting the fastest time in the MEC this season. Timm also notched the fourth-best time in the Atlantic Region for the Senators.
Timm was previously recognized twice as the MEC Women’s Cross Country Athlete of the Week on Sept. 24 and Oct.15.
On the men’s side, Irvine zipped across the track with an 8.18 in the 60-meter hurdles.
His NCAA provisional time was the fastest in the MEC and fourth best in the region. The redshirt junior’s hurdle time was also the 18th fastest nationally this season.
Joshua Chepkesir of UNC-Pembroke was also named the MEC Men’s Indoor Track Athlete of the Week.
