Tucker girls cruise past Lady Irish
No. 6 Lady Mountain Lions honor lone senior in 63-42 win
HAMBLETON — Class A, No. 6 Tucker County led from the start in cruising past Notre Dame, 63-42, on Thursday night.
The Lady Mountain Lions, who improved to 13-7 on the season, established a 16-2 edge in the first canto.
The Lady Irish went on a 7-0 run early in the second period before Tucker County fought back with a 15-12 effort to carry a 31-14 cushion into the intermission break.
The Lady Mountain Lions opened the third frame with a 12-0 run to push the lead out to 43-14.
Heading into the fourth frame, TCHS extended the lead out to 51-26 following a 20-12 effort in the third.
Notre Dame won the fourth stanza, 16-12, as the contest drew to a close.
London Hood paced the Lady Mountain Lions with 18 points, five boards and five assists.
Terra Kuhn dropped in 17 points as the lone senior on senior night at TCHS while garnering a double-double by adding 10 rebounds and four assists.
Freshman Kadie Colebank recorded 16 points and seven boards, while Gracie Rapp inked 10 in the scoring column and pulled down seven rebounds.
Notre Dame senior Emilee Henderson found the bottom of the net four times from 3-point range to post a game-high 19 points.
Morgan Turner with nine and Bailee Yokum with eight points also chipped in for the visitors.
Tucker County will remain idle over the weekend and face Notre Dame again in Clarksburg on Monday.
The Lady Irish (7-11) are slated to travel to the northern panhandle to take on Madonna Saturday.
