Wesleyan women fall on the road at W.Va. St.
INSTITUTE — Payton Shears had 20 points as West Virginia State claimed a 79-53 victory over West Virginia Wesleyan Thursday in MEC play.
Cierra Tolbert had 16 points and 17 boards for the Lady Bobcats, who are now 3-20 and 1-16 MEC.
Nicole Gilyard also had a double-double with 13 points and 13 rebounds.
Destiny Fields chipped in 18 points for the Lady Yellow Jackets (9-14, 7-10).
Wesleyan will host Charleston at 2 p.m. Saturday.
Trevecca Nazarene 68, AB 54
ELKINS — Kaitlynn Wilks had 19 points to lead Trevecca Nazarene to a 68-54 G-MAC win over Alderson Broaddus Thursday night at Davis & Elkins College’s McDonnell Center.
The Lady Trojans (8-16, 5-10 G-MAC) led 16-13 after one quarter and 36-22 at halftime.
The lead grew to 55-35 after three quarters.
Olivia Pepperman followed with an impressive line of 14 points, seven rebounds, nine assists and eight steals for the winners.
Madeline Moyer paced the Lady Battlers (6-18, 3-12) with 15 points.
AB will return to action at 1 p.m. Saturday against G-MAC foe Kentucky Wesleyan in a game being played at Salem University.
