WVHIT championship day set for today

CLARKSBURG — Area Class A boys basketball teams will take to the court at Robert C. Byrd today as part of the West Virginia Hometown Invitational Tournament championship day.

Harman was scheduled to face Hundred in the Division 2 championship game at 6:30 p.m.

The Panthers earned a spot in the title game by defeating Paw Paw on Wednesday evening.

At 12:30 p.m., Tygarts Valley will face off against Moorefield, followed by Tucker County vs. Buffalo at approximately 2 p.m.

Tygarts Valley and Tucker County are also set to meet Feb. 24 in Hambleton in a rescheduled game from the WVHIT.

The remainder of the tentative schedule includes Montcalm vs. Van at 11 a.m., East Hardy vs. Tolsia at 3:30 p.m., Greenbrier West vs. Clay-Battelle at 5 p.m. and Ritchie County vs. St. Marys in the Division I championship game at 8 p.m.

Action got underway on Friday night with three games, including Meadow Bridge earning a 71-41 win over Union Grant. The other games were South Harrison vs. Paw Paw and Paden City vs. Calhoun County.
