EHS’ Smoak wins Buccaneer invite

TENNERTON — Elkins High School’s Charlie Smoak placed first at last week’s Buccaneer Invitational hosted by Buckhannon-Upshur.

Smoak cleared the course in a time of 17:45.89 to lead the Tigers to a third-place showing.

Smoak would be followed by Luke Anger in 9th (19:22), Tyler Burda 18th (20:59), Tyler McKisic 20th (21:10), Brandon Rossi 22nd (21:15), Hunter Shreve 24th (21:58), Chris Fry (23:44) and Jasper Clark 48th (27:13).

The Lady Tigers placed fourth and were led by Addie Berdine’s fifth-place showing in a time of 22:54.

Sammi Sproul followed Berdine with a ninth-place effort in a time of 23:29, while Natalie Sutton was 22nd (25:11), Kiley Edwards 23rd (25:16), Holly Harper 28th (26:09) and Kaia Miller 29th (26:13).

Elkins will compete in the Doddridge County Invitational today.
