EMS boys win, Lady Hornets fall

ELKINS — The Elkins Middle School boys soccer team defeated Taylor County, 3-0, Wednesday at Riverbend Park.

Caden Boland and Isaac Anger had the opening goals for the Hornets, who are now 2-1 on the season. Lucas D’Angelo and Quincy Miller had assists.

B-UMS 2, Elkins 1

TENNERTON — The Elkins Middle School girls soccer team dropped a 2-1 verdict to Buckhannon-Upshur on Tuesday.

The lone goal for the Lady Hornets was Addy Cogar’s corner kick, which was inadvertently deflected into the Little Lady Buc goal by a defender.

Avi Travise scored off of an assist from Sidney Hollen and Travise sent a pass to Haley Triplett for the second goal for B-UMS.

Little Lady Buc keeper Maya Garcia had three saves in the goal. Erin Collins had five saves for EMS.

Petersburg 34, EMS 16

PETERSBURG — Elkins dropped a 34-16 decision to Petersburg on Wednesday evening.

“We just fell a little short tonight against a very good team,” Hornets coach Jay Auvil said. “We had a some of our younger guys running the ball and I was real proud of their effort.”

Elkins is slated to host Tygarts Valley at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
