ELKINS — The Elkins High School girls soccer squad picked up a 3-1 win over North Marion Tuesday in Big 10 Conference play at EHS field.

“It was a good win for us,” Lady Tigers coach Scott Cutright said. “We have a young and inexperienced team this season but the last couple of weeks the girls have shown a lot of potential.”

Elkins, which is now 2-0-1 on the season, scored all of its goals in the opening half.

Hannah Cutright made it 1-0 just 3 minutes into the match and Alexa Price followed with another goal for a 2-0 score.

With 20 minutes left in the half, Alexis Triplett took a cross from Lydia Blackburn and found the back of net to make it 3-0.

The Lady Huskies capitalized on a handball called on the Lady Tigers inside the box to score their lone goal when Karlie Denham converted the penalty kick.

Sydney Wamsley was in goal for EHS.

The Lady Tigers will remain home at 7:30 p.m. Thursday to battle Pocahontas County.
