ELKINS — Three different players found the back of the net as Elkins claimed a 3-0 win over Pocahontas County Thursday night at EHS Field.

The Lady Tigers improved to 3-0-1 with the victory.

“We moved the ball well tonight,” EHS coach Scott Cutright said. “We had several scoring chances but (Pocahontas County’s) goalie was very good and made a lot of nice saves.”

Cutright added his praise for the play of his goalkeeper, Sydney Wamsley, and defensive unit as well.

“Sydney was very solid in net for us,” he said. “And our backs also did a nice job in getting the shutout.”

Elkins struck for two first-half goals to carry the lead into the intermission break.

Alexa Price gave the Lady Tigers a 1-0 lead.

Kennedy Hart then scored on a breakaway to make it 2-0 in favor of the hosts at the break.

Elkins tacked on an insurance goal in the second half on a score from Alexis Triplett.

The Lady Tigers will travel to Robert C. Byrd at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday for their next contest.
