Big first-half propels Moorefield to win over Tucker County

PHILIPPI — Liberty claimed a 53-0 victory over Philip Barbour Friday night at George Byrer Field at BC Bank Park.

The Colts dropped to 0-3 with the setback and will remain home next Friday against Elkins as the game was moved from Wimer Stadium due to the bleachers being deemed unfit for public events.

Moorefield 44, Tucker County 28

PARSONS — Matthew Jenkins rushed for three first-half touchdowns as Moorefield claimed a 44-28 win over Tucker County Friday night at R.H. Armstrong Memorial Field at Class of 1984 Alumni Stadium.

Jenkins scored on runs of 32, 4 and 10 yards as the Yellow Jackets constructed a 44-6 halftime lead.

Sophomore Jaycob Barrett had a short TD run for the Mountain Lions in the second quarter, and freshmen Ethan Rosenau and Ashton Lycliter added scoring runs in the second half to cut the advantage to 44-20.

Tucker County (0-3) will travel to Berkeley Springs next Friday.

Moorefield (2-1) will entertain Petersburg on the same evening.
