EHS grad Phares in line to be new Bridgeport coach
BRIDGEPORT — Pending approval from the Harrison County Board of Education, Elkins High School graduate Tyler Phares has been recommended to become the new head football coach at Bridgeport High School.
Phares has served as the offensive coordinator for the Indians the past three seasons.
He also served in assistant roles at Elkins, under Greg Hott, Morgantown and William Campbell High School in Naruna, Virginia.
He was the offensive coordinator for Elkins from 2011-12, helping the Tigers to playoff berths in both of those seasons.
Phares was a multi-sport standout during his career at Elkins in football, basketball and baseball.
With Phares serving as offensive coordinator, Bridgeport captured the 2019 Class AA state title.
John Cole resigned as the Bridgeport head coach in December after serving four years at the helm.
The Harrison County BOE is scheduled to meet on Tuesday.
