Fairmont State survives against AB
PHILIPPI — Fairmont State survived a late rally from Alderson Broaddus and survived, 79-78, Saturday afternoon in Mountain East Conference play at Rex Pyles Arena.
The Falcons led by 13, at 77-64, with just 3:48 to go before the Battlers made a final push. The Battlers scored 14 of the game’s final 15 points but missed a game-winning attempt to try and steal the win.
Isaiah Sanders had 25 points for Fairmont State in the win. Cole Vonhandorf had 21 points, while Dale Bonner filled the stat sheet with 15 points, five rebounds, six assists and three steals. Zyon Dobbs added 10 more for the Falcons.
Christian Miller-Cardwell had 18 points and nine rebounds for the Battlers. Zach Simpkins scored 16, and David Shriver had a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds.
AB visits Frostburg State this evening.
West Virginia State 104, Wesleyan 92
INSTITUTE — Glen Abram’s 47-point performance helped West Virginia State to a 104-92 win over West Virginia Wesleyan Saturday afternoon in MEC action at the Walker Convocation Center.
Abram was 14-of-23 from the field, including 12-of-16 from three-point range and 7-of-9 from the line, for his 47 points. He also had four assists and three steals. Anthony Pittman had a double-double with 14 points and 18 rebounds, and also had five assists.
Ross Young led the Bobcats with 28 points and 14 rebounds. Jaylin Reed and Jaret Mulooly each had 21 points, and Daylin Lee had 20 points, eight rebounds and five assists.
Wesleyan hosts Concord on Wednesday.
