Bucs rally past Tigers, Colts cruise by Lincoln
TENNERTON — Buckhannon-Upshur plated four runs over the fourth and fifth innings to rally for a 4-2 win over Elkins Wednesday night in Big 10 Conference play at William E. Phillips Memorial Field.
The Tigers (0-9, 0-7 Big 10) took a 2-0 lead in the third on an RBI groundout by Peyton Casey and an error.
The Bucs (6-4, 6-3) picked up an unearned run in the fourth and tied the game on Ian Donnen’s RBI double in the fifth. They tacked on RBI singles by Elijah Arbogast and Jay Burnside.
Donnen, Arbogast and Burnside had two hits each.
Nate Cerullo earned the win in four innings of relief.
Cameron Biller had two hits to led Elkins at the plate.
Gage Huffman took the loss, giving up four runs on eight hits.
Both teams are scheduled to be in action today as the Tigers host Lewis County and the Bucs entertain University.
PB 17, Lincoln 7
PHILIPPI — Alfred Isch homered and drove in five runs to power Philip Barbour to a 17-7 Big 10 Conference win over Lincoln on Wednesday evening.
Isch had a two-run homer in the third as the Colts built a 12-5 lead. They added two runs in each of the fourth and sixth innings and a single run in the fifth.
Nick Hamrick added three RBIs, including a two-run double, and Jesiah Matlick also drove in three on a double and two-run single and Cody Cooper added a two-run double.
Braiden Short, David White and Alex Wilson contributed RBIs, while Hamrick, Isch and Wilson all had three hits apiece.
Hamrick went the first four innings to earn the win. He gave up seven runs on nine hits, striking out two and walking four.
Jason Ludwick took the loss, allowing nine runs on seven hits in two innings.
Philip Barbour (5-3, 3-3 Big 10) travels to Preston today.
