Pendleton County bests Harman to win 33rd consecutive game

PHILIPPI — DeShawn Webster’s layup just before time expired lifted Philip Barbour to a 58-56 win over Big 10 Conference and sectional foe East Fairmont on Monday night.

The Colts (5-7) built a 17-5 lead after one quarter and carried a 33-25 cushion into the intermission.

The Bees trimmed the deficit to 43-38 after three quarters before eventually taking the lead in a back-and-forth final quarter.

With the contest tied at 56-all, PB worked the clock down before Webster put in the eventual game-winning shot with just one second left to play.

Josh Watson had 14 points, Jesiah Matlick 13 and Jed Hawkins 12 for Philip Barbour.

Josh Moore fired in 22 points for East Fairmont (1-7). Seth Cochran chipped in 11 points and Carter Saunders 10.

It was the final regular-season scheduled contests for both teams as sectional play begins next week.

Pendleton 62, Harman 41

FRANKLIN — Class A, No. 3 Pendleton County stayed unbeaten on the season with a 62-41 win over Harman Monday night in Potomac Valley Conference action.

Braden McClanhan had 19 points to lead the Wildcats, who are now 10-0 and have won 33 straight games. Josh Alt also reached double figures with 11 points.

Joe Fridley hit four 3-pointers in finishing with 16 points to pace the Panthers (5-7). Coy Teter chipped in nine.

Both teams will be in action on Thursday as Harman hosts Liberty and Pendleton County entertains Petersburg.

Jacob Beachler had 16 points and Clayton Kisamore added 13 as Pendleton County claimed a 50-40 win in the preliminary junior varsity contest.

Sheridan Bonner had nine points and Lance Adamson seven for the Panthers.
