Colts topple Bees to move on in sectionals
PHILIPPI — Philip Barbour placed four players in double figures and took control early to cruise past East Fairmont, 73-41, Saturday night in Class AAA, Region II, Section 1 action.
The Colts (6-7) move on to visit top-seed Fairmont Senior at 7 p.m. Wednesday in semfinal play.
Third-seed Notre Dame travels to No. 2 Grafton in the other semifinal.
The title game is set for Friday at the highest remaining seed.
Philip Barbour, which needed a last-second shot to defeat the Bees when the squads met last Monday, dominated from the start as the Colts raced out to a 19-9 lead after one quarter and carried a comfortable 39-22 advantage into the intermission.
The lead swelled to 28 points, at 60-32, entering the final frame.
Seniors Josh Watson and Jed Hawkins led the PB balanced-scoring attack with 16 points apiece.
Cody Cooper and freshman Kaden Humphreys added 10 each.
Carter Saunders had 11 points and Josh Moore 10 for East Fairmont in the setback.
