Colts use 18-hit attack to down Tigers
Isch goes 5 for 5 and knocks in seven to lead PB to 15-3 win
ELKINS — Alfred Isch went 5 for 5 and drove in seven runs, including a two-run homer, as Philip Barbour claimed a 15-3 win over Elkins Friday night in Big 10 Conference action.
The Colts (1-1, 1-1 Big 10) finished with 18 hits in the game.
Braiden Short added three safeties and two RBIs and Nick Hamrick and Jayden Herron each drove in a pair of runs for Philip Barbour.
The Colts struck for four runs in the first on a two-run single by Hamrick and Isch’s two-run shot to left.
The Tigers (0-2, 0-2) answered with two runs in the home-half of the second to cut the lead to 4-2, taking advantage of two Colt errors and an RBI single by Ian Copenhaven.
Philip Barbour used run-producing singles by Isch and Herron in the third to again extend the lead to 6-2, before blowing the game open with two more runs in the fifth, four in the sixth and three in the seventh.
Isch had two-run doubles in each of the sixth and seventh innings to lead the charge.
Owen Haddix went the first three innings in taking the loss for Elkins. He gave up six runs on seven hits and fanned one.
Alex Wilson earned the victory for the Colts, going the first four innings and allowing two runs on four hits and striking out five.
Dustyn Primavero had three hits and Jacob Bender two for the Tigers, who are scheduled to visit Braxton County at noon today for a doubleheader.
Philip Barbour will return home at 5 p.m. Monday to face Liberty for a Big 10 contest.
