COVID puts halt to Lady Tigers’ season; PB girls advance

ELKINS — The Elkins High School girls basketball team’s season ended without an outcome on the floor.

Due to COVID-19 issues with Liberty’s team, Wednesday’s Class AAA, Region II, Section 2 semifinal matchup at Lewis County was not played.

The Lady Tigers had defeated the Lady Mountaineers on Monday night.

The Minutemaids move on to face Lincoln in the sectional title game Friday at home.

Lincoln defeated Robert C. Byrd, 49-33, on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, Philip Barbour advanced in Class AAA, Region II, Section 1 play with a 58-42 win over homestanding East Fairmont on Wednesday.

The third-seeded Lady Colts will now visit top-seed Fairmont Senior at 7 p.m. Friday in the title game.
