EMS boys, girls place fifth at B-UMS meet

TENNERTON — The Elkins Middle School boys and girls track teams both placed fifth at the Buckhannon-Upshur Invitational on Saturday.

Isaac Anger broke a school record in winning the 1,600-meter run with a time of 5:10.16 He also placed first in the 800 (2:21) and was part of the 4×400 relay with Gavin Brown, Preston Nixon and Andres Masten, which placed second in a time of 4:40.

Other EMS placers included Brown fifth in the 3,200, Cody Robinson sixth in the 3,200, Jerome Thomason fifth in the 100 (13.83) and seventh in the 200 (28.44), Masten third in the 200 hurdles (32.46) and second in the high jump (5-02), Wyatt Hulver fourth in the discus (87-07), Grayson Click fifth in the 100 hurdles, the 4×200 relay of Tucker Cutright, Jerome and Jeremiah Thomason and the 4×800 relay of Cutright, Ben Tenney, Robinson and Brown was fifth (12:00).

For the Lady Hornets Mallory Bennett was third in the 3,200 with a time of 13:45 and first in the 800 (2:46), Julia Biola was third in the 1,600 (6:14), sixth in the 800 (2:57) and third in high jump (4-02), Emilia Tenney fourth in the 800 (2:53), the 4×400 relay of Bennett, Biola, Tenney and Raighan Carter was second, the 4×800 relay of Taylor Lanham, Lilly Anger, Tenney and Breonna Plumley was fourth (13:25), the 4×200 of Lanham, Alissa Cunningham, Shyla Domingues and Hannah Phillips was fourth (2:19).
