Hornets sweep Tucker Valley in finale

PARSONS — The Elkins Middle School varsity boys basketball team closed the season with a 43-42 win over Tucker Valley on Tuesday night.

The Hornets, who finished the campaign with an 8-6 record, took the lead with just 7.5 seconds left in regulation.

“We fought an uphill battle all night,” EMS coach Brad Bennett said. “I was so proud of the effort we gave. We played as a team and that’s how we pulled it out.”

Aiden Lambert scored 15, Lucas D’Angelo 12 and A.J. Friedman 11 for the Hornets.

Nate Ricottilli had 11 and Garrett Wilfong 10 for the Wildcats.

EMS also took the JV game by a score of 43-22 to finish 9-4 as Ryan Jones scored 12 and Ethan Harner added eight.

Luke Barb netted eight and Nathan Davis six for Tucker Valley.
