PB garners 4-2 win over Bridgeport

PHILIPPI — Hailee Poling and Marissa Schiefelbein hit back-to-back homers in the fourth inning and Sara Simon fanned 13 to lead Philip Barbour to a 4-2 win over Bridgeport Tuesday in Big 10 Conference action.

The Lady Colts took a 2-0 lead in the first on RBI doubles by Simon and Poling.

Singles from Rachel Mason and Maci Cook in the second allowed the Lady Indians to tie the game.

Poling led off the fourth with a shot over the left- field fence, followed by Schiefelbein’s homer.

Simon gave up six hits in going the distance and walking three. She worked out of a two-out single by Lyda Sandy in the bottom of the seventh.

Johnna Hull took the loss, allowing four runs on 10 hits, striking out five and not walking a batter.

Katie Kennedy, Lilley Criss and Poling had two hits each in the win.

Sandy had two safeties for Bridgeport.

Philip Barbour (4-1, 4-1 Big 10) is scheduled to visit Preston at 4:30 p.m. Thursday for another Big 10 contest.
