Elkins Middle School track teams place sixth in Bridgeport meet

BRIDGEPORT — The Elkins Middle School girls and boys track teams posted sixth-place finishes at the Bridgeport Invitational held on Saturday.

Doddridge County won the girls meet with 144 points, followed by South Middle School (99), Buckhannon-Upshur (82), Taylor County (79), Bridgeport Red (53), Elkins (41), Bridgeport White (29), Mountaineer (17) and Keyser (6).

For Elkins, Julia Biola was second in the 3,200 (13:07.87), Hazel Jackson second in the 200 hurdles (36.05), Mallory Bennett was third in the 1,600 (6:11.54), Shyla Dominguez, Allisa Cunningham, Taylor Lanham and Hannah Phillips were sixth (1:04.65) in the 4×100 and fourth in the 4×200 (2:14.69), the 4×400 relay of Cunningham, Jackson, Lanham and Lilly Anger was fourth (5:18.90) and the 4×800 relay of Biola, Bennett, Tenney and Lanham was third.

South Middle School took the boys meet with 109 points, followed by Buckhannon (106), Doddridge (98), Taylor County (60), Mountaineer (59), Elkins (58), South Harrison (34), Bridgeport (25) and Keyser (7).

Isaac Anger captured the 800 (2:22.25) and was second in the 3,200 (11:19.60) for the Hornets, while Andres Masten was fifth in the 400 (1:01.64), third in the 200 hurdles (31.85) and tied for second in the high jump (4-10), Gavin Brown fifth in the 3,200 (12:24.19), Wyatt Hulver fourth in the discus (89-05), the 4×100 relay (Jerome Thomason, Jerimiah Thomason, Quincy Miller and Randall Markas) was sixth (59.16), the 4×200 relay (Markas, Miller, Jerome Thomason and Jerimiah Thomason) was fourth (2:20.98), the 4×400 relay (Anger, Jerome Thomason, Masten and Ben Tenney) was second (4:23.85) and the 4×800 relay (Brown, Cody Robinson, Preston Nixon and Tenney) was third (11:08.60).
