Post 29 takes dramatic 7-6 victory

ELKINS — Elkins Post 29 notched a walk-off victory over Buckhannon Post 7 Wednesday evening as the winning run scored on an error in the bottom of the seventh inning.
Jesiah Matlick singled for Post 29 with one out in the bottom of the seventh at Robin Harvey Memorial Field. Gage Bibey then hit a hard ground ball and reached first on an error at third base. Bibey continued to second and Matlick scored, ending the game.
Post 29 came out swinging out of the gate, building up a four-run lead by the fourth inning.
Buckhannon then came roaring back, scoring five runs on doubles by Jay Burnside and Isaac Lane, and singles by Hunter Stone and Zack Boring, and taking the lead.
Elkins tied things up in the bottom of the sixth, with Austin Bolyard scoring on a ground out, and Nick Hamrick scoring the tying run on a wild pitch.
Cody Cooper earned the win for Elkins. He pitched two and a third innings, giving up no runs on three hits. He also struck out five and allowed no walks.
Bibey started the game for Post 29, giving up six runs on four hits over four and two-thirds inning. He struck out nine batters on the evening.
Post 29 had eight hits in the game, with Matlick, Cooper and Bibey having two hits each. Elkins had no errors during the exciting game, with Alex Wilson handling 14 chances.
Conner Johnson took the loss for Buckhannon, allowing four hits and three runs over two and a third innings. He struck out five and walked none.
Lane started on the mound for Post 7, giving up four runs on four hits in four innings pitched, and striking out six batters.
Boring led Buckhannon with two hits on the night.
