EMS soccer teams fall to East Fairmont

ELKINS — The Elkins Middle School boys and girls soccer teams fell to East Fairmont Monday in the home opener.

The Hornets dropped a 2-1 decision. Tristan Whited scored off a pass from Caden Boland to tie the game in the second half for the hosts.

East netted the game winner later in the half off a header on a corner kick.

“I’m very proud of every player,” EMS coach Ariel Valentine said. “They played hard and gave a good team a really good game.”

The Lady Hornets took a 4-0 setback as they trailed 3-0 at the intermission.

“We had a tough first half, but we looked sharper in the second half,” EMS girls coach Andrew Roidt said. “I’m hoping we can build on our good moments from the second half and come out stronger in our next game.”

Both teams will remain home today at River Bend Park, with girls action starting at 6 p.m.
