EMS boys soccer team edges Patriots

WESTON — The Elkins Middle School boys soccer team edged Robert L. Bland, 2-1, on Thursday night.

After the Patriots took a 1-0 lead 15 minutes into the match, the Hornets got even when Caden Boland converted a penalty kick with 10 minutes left in the first half.

With 7 minutes left in regulation, Tristan Whited put Elkins ahead for good off the assist from Boland.

Bobby Valentine had six saves in goal for the Hornets, who improved to 6-3-0.

The Lady Hornets, meanwhile, dropped a 3-0 verdict to fall to 1-8-0 on the season.

The Elkins boys will visit Buckhannon-Upshur on Monday.

Both teams will be in action Oct. 25 at home against Robert L. Bland for eighth-grade night.
