Lady Warriors bow to Pendleton County

FRANKLIN — A cold-shooting night from the floor doomed Pocahontas County in a 40-21 setback to sectional foe Pendleton County on Thursday night.

The Lady Warriors, now 1-1 on the season, were limited to eight field goals and were 1 of 20 from beyond the arc.

Olivia Vandevender netted 12 points in the setback for Pocahontas County.

Macaden Taylor tallied 10 rebounds, Allyson Alderman five steals and Vandevender five rebounds and three steals.

The Lady Wildcats. who advanced to the Class A state tournament last season, led 12-3 after one quarter and 25-11 at halftime.

Pocahontas County was slated to visit Bath County (Va.) on Friday night, while Pendleton County is scheduled to visit Petersburg next Friday.
