PB’s Hill and Criss to play in North-South tilt

Lady Colts’ Halfin to coach squad; B-U’s Frye a member AAA North team

PHILIPPI — Philip Barbour’s Alyssa Hill and Lilley Criss will participate in the North-South volleyball game at noon Sunday at Woodrow Wilson High School.

Hill, who has signed to play at West Virginia State, and Criss will play for the Class AA North squad, which will be coached by Philip Barbour’s Heather Halfin.

The Lady Colts captured the state title last month by defeating Shady Spring in a five-set thriller. It was the fifth volleyball championship in school history.

Other members of the North team include Robert C. Byrd’s Fran Alvaro, Roane County’s Amber Drennen, Grafton’s Sydney Friend and Payton Shreve and Oak Glen’s Teya Hill and Makayla Zoellers.

The South team is comprised of Independence’s Sarah Bragg and Kyra Davis, PikeView’s Anyah Brown, Shady Spring’s Kelsie Dangerfield, Alyson Holdren and Peydon Smith, Herbert Hoover’s Kassidy Myers, Nitro’s Isabel Edmonds and Point Pleasant’s Addy Cottrill, Katelynn Smith and Brooke Warner.

Shady Spring’s Kelley Williams and Sharon Pinardo will serve as the South coaches.

Buckhannon-Upshur’s Caroline Frye will compete for the North in the Class AAA contest, while East Hardy’s Victoria Ames will suit up for the North in the Class A game.
