Tigers take wins over Bridgeport and East Fairmont

Miller nets 26 in 69-62 victory over Indians

ELKINS — Class AAA, No. 7 Elkins captured wins over Big 10 Conference foes Bridgeport and East Fairmont over the weekend.

A night after rallying for a victory at Class AAA, No. 6 East Fairmont, the Tigers claimed a 69-62 triumph over Bridgeport Saturday evening at Richard P. Simmons Memorial Gymnasium.

Elkins used a strong third quarter against the Indians, holding a 22-10 scoring edge after the contest was tied at 29-29 at halftime.

Tanner Miller tossed in a career-high 26 points and dished out four assists to lead the Tigers. Cory Harper followed with 25 points, Jayden Shreve 12 points, five rebounds, three assists and two steals and Malachi Watson 10 rebounds.

Miller and Harper had four 3-pointers apiece.

Mitch Duez had 23 points for Bridgeport.

Against the Bees, Elkins erased a 30-23 halftime deficit in hanging on for a 53-50 win.

Harper led the way with 19 points, while Miller, Shreve and Watson added eight each. Miller also had five caroms and four assists, Watson seven boards and three steals and Addison McCauley four rebounds.

Evan Parr led East Fairmont (5-3) with 19 points.

The Tigers return to action today at Robert C. Byrd for a makeup game.
