ELKINS — Davis & Elkins picked up its third Mountain East Conference win of the season with a 2-0 victory over West Virginia Wesleyan Wednesday at Nuttall Field.

The contest was shifted from Buckhannon to Elkins due to field issues.

The Lady Senators got on the board in the 10th minute when junior forward Alexa Karsel found the back of the net.

It was Karsel’s team-leading sixth goal of the season.

D&E picked up its second score in the 46th minute off the foot of freshman Nao Kawasaki on an assist from sophomore Sachiko Gamo — her third helper of the year.

The Lady Senators (4-2 3-2 MEC) held a 9-4 edge in shots on goal and a 9-2 advantage in corner kicks.

A total of 23 fouls were committed — 16 for WVWC and seven on D&E.

Senior Katie Clarke recorded four saves in the win, while Lady Bobcat goalie Ally Moore stopped six shots.

Both teams will be in action Sunday against MEC opponents as the Lady Senators entertain Frostburg State at 5 p.m. and Wesleyan (1-6, 1-4) visits Fairmont State for a 1 p.m. match.
