2024 Randolph County Athletic Hall of Fame Inductees

Editor’s note: The following is the second in a series of profiles of the six individuals and one team that will be inducted into the 2024 Randolph County Athletic Hall of Fame at 1 p.m. Aug. 10 at the Gandy Dance Theater. There will be no tickets available at the door and all dinner reservations have to be made in advance.

Percy ‘P.J.’ Lanham Jr.

P.J. Lanham lettered in both football and baseball while attending Tygarts Valley High School, graduating in 2016.

He was an outstanding athlete as well as the salutatorian of the senior class. He was named All-PVC in both sports throughout his high school career.

In football, as a running back, P.J rushed for over 1,200 yards his combined freshman and sophomore seasons in spite of missing half the games due to injury.

He rushed for over 1,000 yards consecutively in both his junior and senior seasons — averaging 105 yards per game his senior year. He holds the school record as the all-time leading rusher for the Bulldogs with 3,271 career yards.

P.J. was named the 2015-2016 WDTV football player of the year.

As a catcher for TVHS, he led the baseball team to three sectional championships and two regional championships from 2014-2016.

As a player, his career statistics include 128 hits, 124 RBIs, 39 doubles and 15 home runs.

He was selected to the second team all-state team as the captain his senior year.

P.J. was also chosen to play in the WV North-South game.

His father, Percy Lanham, was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2003.
