EHS swim teams earns wins over Grafton and East
ELKINS — The Elkins High School swim teams posted victories over Big 10 Conference foes Grafton and East Fairmont last week at Davis & Elkins College’s George A. Myles Pool.
The Lady Tigers claimed a 114-15 win over Grafton, and a 110-17 victory over East.
Emma Ujvagi (500-yard freestyle, 6:05.78; 100 breaststroke, 1:16.81), Lilly Irons (200 freestyle, 2:10.29; 50 freestyle, 26.03) and Lilly Anger (200 IM, 2:29.72; 100 freestyle, 59.64) captured two events each for Elkins.
The trio also teamed with Aleah Irons to claim the 200 medley relay in 2:01.67 and the 400 freestyle relay (4:06.53).
Other Lady Tigers placing first included Aleah Irons in the 100 butterfly (1:07.58), the 200 freestyle relay (Leah Ours, Estrid Garvin-Daniels, Raighan Carte Hall and Sophia Rhodes in the 200 freestyle relay (2:01.3) and Rhodes in the 100 backstroke (1:16.24).
The EHS boys bested Grafton (82-14) and East Fairmont (82-17).
Isaac Anger swam to firsts in the 200 freestyle (1:56.38) and 100 butterfly (54.07) to pace the Tigers.
He joined Jackson Shepherd, Joel Casto and Andres Masten in claiming the 200 medley relay (1:53.07).
Masten (50 freestyle, 23.56; 100 backstroke, 1:02.30) and Casto (100 freestyle, 55.67; 100 backstroke, 1:05.59) won two even as well.
Briar Higgins claimed the 200 IM (2:56.17) and Zenna Jones the 500 freestyle (7:57.62).
Elkins will be host Philip Barbour and Robert C. Byrd at 6:30 p.m. on Dec. 4.
