EHS hosts Big 10 foes in swim action

ELKINS — The Elkins High School swim teams hosted Big 10 Conference foes Philip Barbour and Robert C. Byrd Wednesday evening at Davis & Elkins College’s George A. Myles Pool.

In the girls meet, the Lady Tigers posted 98-45 win over the Lady Flying Eagles and defeated the Lady Colts, 108-27.

RCB outscored Philip Barbour, 63-46.

Posting firsts for Elkins were the 200-yard medley relay (Emma Ujvagi, Aleah Irons, Lilly Irons and Lilly Anger) in 2:01.77, Ujvagi (200 IM, 2:32.39), Anger (50 freestyle, 26.02; 500 free, 5:56.77), Irons (100 fly, 1:07.09; 100 breaststroke, 1:17.71), Sophia Rhodes (100 backstroke, 1:17.34) and the 400 freestyle relay (Ujvagi, Aleah Irons, Lilly Irons and Anger) in 4:00.23.

In boys action, RCB defeated Elkins (75-68) and Philip Barbour (102-19). The Tigers claimed an 84-23 victory over the Colts.

Jackson Shepherd, Joel Casto, Isaac Anger and Andres Masten swam to first for Elkins in the 200 medley relay with a time of 1:54.89.

Other first-place finishers for the Tigers were Casto (200 free, 2:03.70), Anger (50 free, 21.82; and 100 breaststroke, 1:03.21), Masten (100 fly, 1:00.80; and 100 backstroke, 1:05.03) and the 200 freestyle relay of Briar Higgins, Casto, Masten and Anger in 1:40.29.
