BRIDGEWATER, Va. — Five members of the Bridgewater College women’s soccer team, including Elkins native Anna Belan, were recently named to the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District teams recently announced.
Belan, Laura Narby, Brynn Dempsey, Katherine King and Zoe Webster all earned the accolade that requires excellence both in the classroom and on the field.
Belan earns her first AAD (Academic All-District) honor as she was a key piece of the BC backline in her junior season. The former Elkins High School standout saw action in 17 games and appeared in the starting lineup 14 times for the Eagles in 2024. Belan added contributions on both ends of the pitch as she also registered a pair of shots on goal. She currently boasts a 4.0 GPA.
Narby adds her first AAD nod to a decorated 2024 season. The sophomore was named to the All-ODAC Third Team earlier this month and was named the ODAC Offensive Player of the Week a few days prior as she led BC’s late-season charge with 13 points in the Eagles’ last six games. The Huntington, New York, native registered seven goals and six assists in her second season, both career highs. Narby earned the academic qualification with a 3.97 GPA.
Dempsey earns her first AAD accolade after starting all but one game for the Eagles in the center back role. Although Dempsey may not have registered any stats that jump off the page, The sophomore was an anchor for the BC backline that registered five shutouts in 2024. Hailing from Malvern, Pennsylvania, Dempsey earns the academic piece of the award by holding a 3.80 GPA.
King recently earned her second-consecutive Second Team All-ODAC selection and adds her first AAD nod to that ledger. King returned to her midfield role for her second season in the crimson and gold and tallied six goals for the Eagles while also providing a presence on the defensive end as well. The Fallston, Maryland, native started all 19 games for the Eagles in her sophomore season and currently maintains a 3.74 GPA.
Webster earns her second-consecutive Academic All-District accolade after being named third team all-conference earlier this month. Hailing from Newport, Virginia, Webster was a mainstay at the wing spot for the Eagles with 17 starts in 2024. Webster registered her first career goal this season in a 1-1 tie with Shenandoah and also added an assist in a win at Mary Washington. Graduating a year early, Webster earned the academic part of the honor by maintaining a 3.71 GPA.
The Eagles tallied a 7-7-5 overall record after playing the toughest slate the program has seen in a while as BC tangled with three teams that qualified for the NCAA Women’s Soccer Tournament.
BC’s five selections is the most by the program in a season.
