Tigers drop road verdict to Irish, 47-32

CHARLESTON — Elkins dropped a 47-32 decision to Class AA, No. 9 Charleston Catholic on Saturday afternoon.

The Tigers were led by Levi Wanless with 11 points.

Zaden Ranson paced the Irish with 19 points.

Catholic led 16-15 after one quarter, before outscoring Elkins, 14-2, in the third.

The Tigers cut the lead to 34-26 after three quarters but the Irish held a 13-6 scoring edge in the final frame.

Elkins is now 6-9 and remains on the road at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at Liberty for a Big 10 Conference contest.

The Tigers return home at 7:30 p.m. Thursday to face regional and Big 10 foe East Fairmont.
