Bulldogs get past Paw Paw

MILL CREEK — Jacob Wamsley tossed in 30 points as third-seed Tygarts Valley claimed a 78-60 victory over sixth-seed Paw Paw Friday night on Weber-Wamsley Court.

The Bulldogs (13-9) now travel to second-seed East Hardy Wednesday in one of the regional finals.

It will be the third meeting of the season between the teams, with the Cougars winning both — including an overtime decision in Baker.

Tygarts Valley raced out to a 19-9 lead after the first quarter in Friday’s game, building a 39-25 halftime lead.

“Credit Paw Paw for playing hard right up to the end,” Bulldogs coach Tom Wamsley said. “Anytime we took the our foot off the gas they capitalized.

“We shot well against their zone, and once they came at us they left Wamsley with single coverage.”

Parker Bell added 12 points and Ian Harris 11 for Tygarts Valley.

Donovan Tanouye fired in 30 points for the Pirates, while Jennings Carder added 15.
