Colts place four on all-Big 10 first team
B-U’s Marple earns a spot on first unit; Elkins High School’s Cooper, PB’s Gonzales second teamers
PHILIPPI — Class AA state runner-up Philip Barbour placed four players on the all-Big 10 Conference first team.
Senior Tyler Sisson (catcher), senior Grant Harris (pitcher), junior Kale Wolfe (outfielder) and sophomore Landyn Carpenter (infielder) were named to the first unit for the Colts.
Buckhannon-Upshur senior Landon Marple is one of the first-team utility players.
The remainder of the first unit includes sophomore Luke Rohrig (Bridgeport), junior Garrett Moats (Lewis County) and senior Logan Canfield (Fairmont Senior) as outfielders.
The infield includes junior Owen Music (East Fairmont), senior Carson Currey (Bridgeport), freshman Carter Gillespie (Grafton), sophomore Colton Edwards (Lincoln) and junior first baseman Owen Sondericker (Bridgeport).
Preston sophomore Bryson McNew joins Sisson as the other first-team catcher.
Lincoln sophomore Max Abruzzino is the other utility player.
North Marion junior Jackson Waskis and Fairmont Senior junior Brayden Gorby round out the first-team pitchers.
Elkins High School sophomore Braden Cooper earned a spot on the second team in the outfield.
Robert C. Byrd junior Xavier Carvelli, senior Cam Peschl from Fairmont Senior and Preston sophomore Lyric Moats join Cooper as second-team outfielders.
Philip Barbour senior Nick Gonzales is among the second-team infielders, along with Grafton junior Greyson Ramezan, senior Matt Masters of Fairmont Senior, Bridgeport junior Kasen Baun, RCB junir Ashton Shaffer and North Marion senior Gavyn Owens (first base).
The second-team catchers are senior Trevor Bigalow from Fairmont Senior and RCB junior Saverio Destito, while Bridgeport senior Michael Romano and East Fairmont junior Brody Bledsoe the utility players.
Preston sophomore Tanner Thomas, Lincoln sophomore Jacob Bart and RCB junior Owen O’Mara are the second-team pitchers.
RCB junior Cooper Floyd was the league’s Player of the Year, Bridgeport senior Jacob Stavrakis the Pitcher of the Year and Bridgeport’s Robert Shields the Coach of the Year.
Fairmont Senior (Class AAA) joined Philip Barbour as representing the Big 10 Conference in last week’s state tournament.
