ELKINS — Chapmanville plated five runs over the first two innings en route to a 5-0 win over Belington-Barbour County Saturday in 10-12-year-old state tournament action at Melvin Heckel Fields at Riverbend Park.

Belington will now face Winfield at 6 p.m. today in an elimination contest in the Herd Division.

Ethan Akers had two RBIs and Kayne Stapleton, Luke Berry, Chase Blankenship one RBI each for Chapmanville.

Ryder Kirkpatrick had a double and Sawyer Sublett, Callen Cherok, Landon Wolfe and Cordell Blake hits for Belington in the setback.

Scott Wright pitched five innings of relief for Belington, fanning six batters on the day.

Four different players saw action on the mound for Chapmanville.

Blankenship had three strikeouts and Berry, Cole Deskins and Hunter Farley two apiece.

In other Herd Division games from Saturday, Winfield defeated Shady Spring (7-6) and Jefferson claimed a 12-0 win over Fringe.

On Sunday, Chapmanville claimed a 9-1 victory over Huntington, Jefferson defeated Winfield (12-2) and Fringe eliminated Shady Spring, 4-0.

Fringe faces Huntington at 8:30 p.m. today in the other Herd Division elimination contest.

In Mountaineer Division action on Saturday, Logan defeated Summersville (6-2), Central Greenbrier edge Martinsburg (8-7) and Bridgeport got past Hurricane (8-4).

Barboursville defeated Logan (8-4), Bridgeport claimed an 8-5 win over Central Greenbrier and Hurricane eliminated Martinsburg, 7-6, in Sunday’s action.

A pair of elimination games are on tap today in Mountaineer Division action as Summersville squares off against Central Greenbrier at 5:30 p.m. and Hurricane faces Logan at 8 p.m.
